Happy February!
Sending a new perspective out to you, along with a random quote. I hope you enjoy the offering and choose to explore a new perspective/viewpoint!
Personal Note:
As you saw in my Bio, I love to read and, when possible, to give you a shout-out about the books where I found the perspective, and the authors. I hope you enjoy these as much as I do and make space to try out these new experiences for yourself.
Quote of the Month:
"Every conversation presents an opportunity to build - or destroy - trust." Mary P. Rowe, PhD
New Perspective:
"Observing without evaluating is the highest form of human intelligence. When we combine observation with evaluation, we decrease the likelihood that others will hear our intended message."
Questions/Actions to Ponder:
Focus on avoiding generalization by using specific time and context to communicate observation. Examples:
- Observation w/ evaluation: "Doug procrastinates".
- Observation w/o evaluation: "Doug only studies for exams the night before".
Book Source:
Nonviolent Communication: A Language of Life
Author: Marshall B. Rosenberg, Ph.D.
