Happy January!!
Sending a new perspective out to you, along with a random quote. I hope you enjoy the offering and choose to explore a new perspective/viewpoint!
Personal Note:
As you saw in my Bio, I love to read and, when possible, to give you a shout-out about the books where I found the perspective, and the authors. I hope you enjoy these as much as I do and make space to try out these new experiences for yourself.
Quote of the Month:
“Courage is the most important of all the virtues because, without courage, you can’t practice any other virtue consistently. " Maya Angelou
New Perspective:
“If you think that the key to greater willpower is being harder on yourself, you are not alone. But you are wrong. Study after study shows that self-criticism is consistently associated with less motivation and worse self-control. In contrast, self-compassion – being supportive and kind to yourself, especially in the face of stress and failure – is associated with more motivation and better self-control. Forgiveness, not guilt, increases accountability."
Questions/Actions to Ponder:
Forgiveness when you Fail:
- What are you feeling? Notice if self-criticism shows up.
- You are only human. Everyone struggles and sometimes loses control. Consider the truth of this statement.
- What would you say to a friend? Consider how you would comfort a close friend who experienced a setback.
